Tanzania Energy Access Day will be co-organised by ARE and Tanzania Renewable Energy Association (TAREA) on 30 June 2022, as the third day of EAIF 2022, giving Tanzanian energy access stakeholders and international investors a unique opportunity to do business and develop partnerships.
The day aims to raise awareness on the potential of renewable energy technologies, especially for rural electrification in Tanzania, showcasing different types of renewables as mainstream sources of electricity and modern cooking solutions in rural and remote areas of the country. It also features discussion sessions on the opportunities and challenges to conduct energy access business and investments in the country.
Background information:
Approximately 16.9% of Tanzania’s rural population have access to electricity. According to REA, the Tanzanian government plans to increase rural household connectivity to 50% in 2025 and 75% in 2033. REA plans to electrify all Tanzania villages by 2021 at a rate of 2,000 villages per year. Over 5,000 are already electrified through the national grid’s extension. (Source: PowerAfrica)
